I read Dr. Strange as a lad, and truly enjoyed walking down memory lane with this volume of his Strange tales stories, many of which I used to own. I gave them all away (including the #9 Spider Man) because I felt I was to old, mature and worldly to take time for such juvenile pursuitsI have regretted that action ever since.The nice thing about these compilations is seeing the progression of the series, sort of like binge watching a show. The initial stories were crude and hammy (as opposed to smooth and hammy later on), and the storytelling got much, much better, as the last multi issue arc shows.It also shows the incredible development of the art of Steve Ditko, he who created the look of the aforementioned web Salinger. Ditto did not use a pencilled, he did all the art himself, and the last results from 1965 are wonderful. He was able to capture the world's of enchantment like no other, although Jim Steranko was close. So if you liked the movie, read the book, see where the character was born and how they came to be. It's worth it.
